Knox County Schools to buy land for new Farragut elementary school

Knox County Schools is about to take the first step in adding a much-needed elementary school in Farragut.

Pending a vote from the board on Wednesday night, Knox County would purchase nearly 32 acres of farmland to build a new elementary school on the edge of Knox County near Loudon County.

Knox County will pay $3.18 million for the land, which is near McFee Park. It’s a portion of a property owned by Timothy Scott and Todd Scott, who purchased the land back in 2020 for $6.1 million, according to the Knox County property records. They agreed to sell the 32-acre portion for $100,000 an acre.

The purchase would come more than a year after $5 million was set aside in the Knox County budget.
