Seven Michigan skaters named to World Junior evaluation camp

On Tuesday, USA Hockey dropped its 60-player invitation list for its World Junior evaluation camp, which included seven selections from the Michigan hockey team.

Rising sophomores Luke Hughes, Dylan Duke and Mackie Samoskevich, incoming freshmen Frank Nazar III, Rutger McGroarty and Seamus Casey, as well as program alumnus Thomas Bordeleau will all try out for Team USA. Across those three classes of Michigan recruits, the Wolverines’ consistent ability to find and develop premium talent shows.

“That’s a good indication of the top players in their age group in the United States,” associate head coach Bill Muckalt said. “Top players recruit top players and success breeds success, so I think those are good indications for us. Obviously we want to keep building on it and keep developing high end guys to the National Hockey League — that’s one of our goals.”
